Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American singer-dancer and actress. The first Broadway roles are Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. Her role in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel was rewarded with the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in a Play. Annaleigh is a collaborator in projects with award-winning directors as well as actors and producers throughout her career. Ashford in the near future will play opposite Kumail in Robert Siegel's Hulu-exclusive program Welcome to Chippendales which premieres November 22. Ashford is currently working on Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust that stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. It will also be available on Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford returns to Broadway in the month of March 2023 with the role of Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production will be held in the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same team who produced Hamilton is directing the show. Ashford was Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy's FX's American Crime Story Impeachment, based off the scandal which involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the nation crisis. The two-season run she had on the CBS show B Positive was her first significant role. It was developed by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the show also starred famous actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No new to Broadway Ashford won the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her portrayal of Essie In You Can't Take It with You. She has also performed on Broadway as a character in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde as well as the original character of Lauren In Kinky Boots for which she was nominated for an Tony Award. Ashford is a Denver native who now divides his time between Los Angeles.
